Best Deal Times in October
October is believed to be one of the best months to shop online. The official American holidays in October are Columbus Day and Halloween.
Columbus Day - second Monday in October
Columbus Day is a federal holiday celebrated annually on the second Monday in October. It is generally accepted that Christopher Columbus was the first European to have discovered the New World of the Americas in October of 1492. It is curious that Americans probably wouldn’t have Columbus Day as a holiday if Christopher Columbus had’t been born in Italy.
Proud of Columbus, the Italian population of New York City organized the first celebration of the discovery of America on October 12, 1866, and celebrated it as a day of their heritage. Later in 1869, Italians of San Francisco celebrated October 12 and called it Columbus Day. Since 1971, Columbus Day has been celebrated on the second Monday in October.
Most likely this day doesn’t mean much in other countries, but it provides a great chance for people all over the world to shop and save at US stores. See a sample of Columbus Day deals at Bestquadcoptersite.com and Simon.com.
Halloween - October 31
Another day when shops are ready to offer something very special is Halloween. This holiday, much more popular in the world than Columbus Day, is a yearly celebration in many countries that happens on October 31.
Halloween, or All Hallows’ Eve, “is a Christianized feast initially influenced by Celtic harvest festivals, with possible pagan roots”, according to the majority of scholars. Traditional Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, attending costume parties, decorating homes, carving pumpkins into jack-o’-lanterns, visiting haunted attractions, telling scary stories and watching horror films.
So our bargain tip for you in October is to look for Columbus Day and Halloween sales. But if you miss out on these opportunities, don’t worry. In November US stores will be offering gigantic discounts on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. However, let’s leave that for next time.
