Filling out the Customs declaration is one of the steps in order processing at Parcl. You may think ‘Oh yes, that useless table where we have to specify the names of products and the mysterious Customs value’. Yes, that’s the form. And you’re right in a way. This form did not fully meet the real needs of forwarders who were preparing packages for shipment. We studied the actual CN22 and CN23 forms, which must be attached to every international package, and developed a mechanism that allows forwarders to view, download and print out the Customs declaration forms with all of the required data.
Now when filling out the Customs declaration form users may specify item category (gift, document, commercial sample, etc.) and enter weight and Customs value of every item shipped. This information is very important, because Customs taxes and fees are calculated based on it. Users may also add items to declare if information about products in their request is too general.
You can view, download and print out completed forms in .PDF format. The form will contain sender and the recipient addresses automatically copied from the request details, item category, description, quantity, weight and value. We believe this feature will be very useful, since forwarders may simply print the completed form and take it to the post office instead of having to fill it out by hand there.
In addition to the new feature, we also put together a page with instructions on how to fill out the Customs declaration. We hope the time we spent implementing this feature was not a waste and the improvement will help our users process shipments more efficiently. If you have any ideas or suggestions on how to improve the Customs declaration form, please share your thoughts with us at firstname.lastname@example.org, our Twitter page or our Facebook page. We are always happy to hear from you!
